There are so many web sites out there that you can get tons of information on the things we can do in the great Outdoors. One of my close friends has one of these sites and I am also a member of it. I would like to share a little about the site here on Hello Hunting for you the reader.

Mr. Robert Householder of Forest Home,AL was the first to tell me about Talk Hunting. When he first told me that he had designed a site for the common outdoors-man I really did not know what to thank. So the only thing for me to do was to get online and check it out. To my surprise I actually enjoyed reading some of the things that people has posted on the site.

Talk Hunting has grown each year and the staff at talk hunting work so hard to keep it going. With sponsors such as the Whitetail Institute of North America, Dead Down Wind, and Hunter’s Safety systems you can get all kinds of answers from people just like you and me.

Just for signing up at talk hunting you have chances to win free prizes each month just by posting and replying to other members post. The site is set up as a forum and with its thousands of members and still growing it has new things to talk about daily.

You don’t have to just talk to each member on the site to find out things about hunting and fishing. There are also pictures posted by members of harvested game and let me say that there has been some mighty big deer taken by these members. Hunters and fishermen just like you and me from all over the United States come to visit talk hunting each day and night.

I have seen other hunting forums such as HuntingNet.com, and ArcheryTalk.com but none of them comes close to talk hunting in my mind. All you have to do is click here at Talk Hunting and sign up for free to get started. Make post and ask questions to build your chances up at winning free prizes each month given out by the sponsors they have. So what are you waiting for? Get to the site fast and check it out.

Tell them you heard it from Hello Hunting…

When sitting down to write this article I had no idea of what it was going to be. All I know is it would be about the Outdoors in some sort of way. I may even have to place it in the Tall Tales collection and if I do then it will just have to be there. It may even be the source of a brand new chapter in my life.

When writing for an Outdoor paper, magazine, and a web site there is so much that can be written on. It is almost like trying to come up with new words for a special book. I would almost say that on a count of 100 words to 100 words that the Aurthur Tom Kelly dose not have as much trouble of coming up with words to go into his own books.

Tom Kelly is by far one of the greatest outdoor writers of this time. I say this to you as the reader that this is my own opinion and i do not wish to change it by any means necessary. When he writes it’s like words just fall into place and you seem to read them one after another and they just make since. Some would disagree and say that he is not the best writer of this time but we are all entitled to our own opinion.

What comes to mind when you hear the word Outdoors? It can mean many things in this day and age. It is like the adds that you read on the back of some everyday outdoor magazine that is there for one reason. That reason is to promote the company that has paid for that add. The adds that I enjoy reading the most are like the one’s that just come from the heart. Let’s take a look at Mossy Oak adds and just sit and read one and think of what you may read while you read it. Here is one for example.

” Law of Nature ”
” It’s a law of nature: the more dirt gets under your fingernails, the higher your spirit gets lifted.”

There are plenty more of where this add comes from and you can find it at Mossy Oak. I have to say that even when Realtree placed add’s they never even matched up to Mossy Oak. These two companies are competing for who has the best camo. But Mossy Oak go’s further than that.

Mossy Oak also works best with Biologic, a seed blend for every type of wildlife out there that mother nature has to put forward to us. Whitetail Institute has planted over 1 million acres but I would say that Biologic is rite there with them if not equal.

Outdoor companies compete each and every year for something new to be placed on the shelf. There is still thousands of things out there to be discovered and it only take a little time in the outdoors to do it. When it comes to camo I will more than likely choose Realtree over Mossy Oak but i have had my chances to plant Whitetail Institute products and here in the south the Biologic brand is just a little better.

As Toxey Haas once said: ” It all started with a fist full of dirt.”

I was first introduced to Outdoors Without Limits by Michael Hatten a good friend that I have made and had the pleasure to hunt with on a few occasion's. When I first asked Michael what it was all about his first words were words I will never forget. Shannon I want you to take a second and think. Outdoors Without Limits will change the way you look at life.

I first learned about Outdoors Without Limits (OWL) from a great friend named Michael Hatten from Goshen,Alabama. I went to a couple of their banquets and helped Michael and his crew set up for a couple of them. To my acknowledge I didn’t really understand until one night in Highland Home,AL what OWL was all about.

The more that I listened to Michael the more I learned. He had told me that a man by the name of Kirk Thomas had introduced him to OWL and the first time he had met him he did not realize that this man was in a wheel chair. When Kirk had gotten out of his truck he had told Michael “Let’s go change the way you look at life.”

Those words are the same words that Michael had told me and they will forever more stick in my head until the day I die. OWL is an organization that was designed to bring people like me and you closer to people with disabilities like kids and adults of all ages. The money raised in the annual banquets that are held are for the chapters of OWL. This money can be there for a chapter to host a disabled hunt or fishing trip for kids and adults of all ages in your community.

The recreational outreach program, Outdoors Without Limits, is leading a nationwide effort to pull together communities committed to help reduce the barriers that prevent disabled people from enjoying the great outdoors.Together, we will help change stereotypes about what defines “ability”. And, through action, we build relationships that change spirits and lives.

Approximately 100 disabled participants and their guide partners will hit the deer wood’s during the 3rd weekend in January. Please join us as we kick off this great weekend full of fun and opportunity. This is a national event hosted by the Troy chapter of Outdoors Without Limits. This fun-filled weekend will have plenty to do of all ages and will be held at Swindall RV Park 162 County Road 5516 “Swindall Road” Troy, Alabama 36081. For more information on this event you can call (334).566.8353 or (334).482.2444 or you can call Michael Hatten at (770).722.5905.

Remember that the way we look at life today could change tomorrow with your help in getting involved and hosting an OWL event in your town. You will never regret helping the one’s you love and the one’s less fortunate.

I have been a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation for a long time now. As of April 2009 I have been a chapter president for four years and I hope that I can continue my journey onward for a long time to come.

The NWTF is a nonprofit organization that dose many thing for many causes. Like the chapter I am over is located in Georgaina, AL and is a small chapter. We usually average about fifty to eighty people show up every April for our NWTF Hunting Hartiage Banquet. The NWTF has a chapter in every state and also in Mexico and Canada.

There is so many great things that come from the NWTF like the restoration of the return of the wild turkey in many states. Turkey hunting has growed to a amazing height for the young and the old. There is no better feeling than to wake up on a cool spring morning and hear the sound of a mature gobbler in a distance form where you stand.

The NWTF has groups for all ages and not just men but women also. There is the Women in the Outdoors which is set up for the lady hunter of the family. You have the Extreme Jakes for ages 16 to 18 and then the regular Jakes for the ages of 15 and under. And also lets don’t forget the NWTF Membership along with sponsor memberships as well. If you have never seen or heard anything about the NWTF I want to invite you to visit their web site at www.nwtf.org. There is something there for all ages and if you or your child is a senior in high school they to can sign up to get scholarship through a local NWTF chapter. The NWTF is growing larger and it’s volunteer’s are working harder to make the turkey hunting world a better place.
