It may be the cool spring mornings that lead you into the woods for that old gobbler. It could be helping dad or granddad with the finishing touches on a favorite shooting house. Or even spending time with family and friends on the river or lake while doing a little fishing. It is what it takes for us to get up each day and thank God for what he has given us so much.

The things we say or do reflect on the way we look at life. Rather it be going to church on a Sunday morning listening to Gods word from the preacher or heading to the woods to sit for hours on in and reading your Bible while waiting on the big one that might have gotten away in the past season. Some of us don’t thank God enough for what he has given us and who is to say that we are perfect for anything. I have to say that I have this website for a reason. It may be to share stories and outdoor news to people just like you. I do know one reason I have this site and that is because God has provided it to me in some kind of way. I want to thank God for the things he has given me in my life.

He has given me a son that will soon be ten years old. I am so proud of my son and knowing that he loves God makes me even prouder than any man could be. Do you ever sit in that deer stand on cold winter mornings and stare out into the woods and say a simple prayer to God for allowing you to be there. Do you carry your Bible to the stand while you hunt or to the creek bank while you fish. We do the things we do for a reason. I have read on a many of magazines back covers some of the ads from Mossy Oak. Their slogans or their catch phrases that catches our eyes paint a whole picture in our minds. I can see why Toxey Haas is so proud of his company and how it has grown.

It all begin with a fistful of dirt

These are the words that you read or have heard. How do we not know that this is how God reached out and said to Toxey Haas and said take this and go and build. A christian man from Mississippi takes a fistful of dirt and turns into what we see today as a leader in the Camo industry. I have written on Mossy Oak in the past and the obsession that they carry and have for the great outdoors. We should be thankful for what we have and some of do and there are still some of us who don’t.

I see Mossy Oak as not just a company owned and created by one man and his family but a company that has been placed here on earth by God himself for a reason. Back on June 24, 2011 my younger brother turned 21 years old. His young wife gave him something that she worked so hard to get. She gave him a present that will lead him and guide him on a day-to-day basis. She went to our local Bass Pro Shops and purchased a Bible that its cover had the pattern of Mossy Oak. Outdoor men and women now have a Bible from Mossy Oak! A number one brand in camouflage brings enthusiasm for the outdoors together with the passion for God’s Word. “It’s not a passion. It’s an obsession.” Enjoy all of God’s creation while reading God’s Word!

Me and my son have this little prayer that we came up with and one that we say before bed time each night on the weekends that I have him.

Dear Lord bless this day, and bless us the turkey hunter way.

We call it the turkey hunters prayer. Even though I am into turkey hunting a little more than deer hunting or fishing I still find time while on the stand to ask God to lead me and guide me in the right direction. Rather or not I harvest a game animal I am still glad to say I live to see it one more day. Take Gods words and let them bless you and help guide you on a day-to-day basis. You want regret ever just sitting down and reading just one line from Gods book. It will lead you and guide you all you have to do is grab one up and read. Our Lord blesses us for reading, listening, and sharing his word. God Bless!

Genesis 1:20-25
20. And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. 21. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 22. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. 23. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. 24. And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. 25. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

WWE Hall of fame Legend Shawn Michaels has stepped out of the WWE ring and into the wild with MacMillan River Adventures. After recording on my (DVR) and watching the first three episode’s on the Outdoor Channel I have learned it is going to be hard to miss one single show. The very first episode was aired on June 28, 2011 on the Outdoor Channel. As Shawn takes his wrestling gear off and put’s on his camo to head out for the famous Yukon moose. You bet your tail that each Tuesday night either I or my (DVR) will be getting the new inside look as the show continues. Let’s take a look at the teaser and you want be upset that you did. A don’t want to miss show that is going to change the Outdoor Channel from here out.

What else is there to do in the spring or even late spring after your turkey season is gone. Try out a few of these idea’s to hit the water on some late spring action cat fishing. When getting ready for a catfishing trip there are a few must have items that you really need to rely on. A pole that is going to hold and catch that big cat is number one on the list. Catfish are like buzzard’s of the water world and will almost eat anything and everything that comes their way. Anything bloody such as meats and even stinky cheese will catch a big catfish. Having the line sturdy enough on a sturdy pole will also be a plus when you hang into one.

The one thing about cat fish is they will be in deep waters through the early spring but as the shad start to move and run upstream they will start to move in and eating smaller fish. Cut baits such as bream and shad are among some of a cat fishes top food source. Blood baits such as chicken liver or gizzards can also pay off big.

Smaller fish is most likely your best bet in the late spring and early summer months. These are foods that are naturally there already and a big cat will in fact snag it fast. I good idea is to bait a spot up for about a week before you head out to fish it. Like for an example if you are on a creek you can easily bait there. Take a PVC pipe big enough and long enough and it could turn into one of the most hottest of cat fish hot spots.

By using a pipe you can tie them off near a bank and start to feed things such as stinky old cheese or even dog food will work well. Other fish will also come around and check it out so therefore where smaller fish are the big cat’s want be far behind. There has been more than one occasion that I have done this and what a pay off it would bring me.

Let’s now take a view at Thunder Mist Fishing team on catching some great catfish.

Young people today do not realize what they have and are sometimes not happy with what has been given to them. Land is getting hard to come by and only seems to be there for the rich. Timber on land is usually only cut once or twice in a person's life so take advantage of owning land and timber.

It is a time as we grow with what Mother Nature has given us. We take things for granite and with a grain of sand can ruin whatever it is we have of had. Our land lies before us as our grandparents, fathers, and mothers have left behind for us. Young people today do not realize what they have and are sometimes not happy with what has been given to them. Land is getting hard to come by and only seems to be there for the rich. We no longer work hard to have what we could have but work hard for what we do have. The things we want most seem to be getting harder to come by.

Farm land is being turned into a pine forest and I can say I have never seen a deer or a turkey eat a pine comb. The value of timber go’s up and go’s down and timber companies take advantage of these things. I am not saying that a timber company is a bad thing. You don’t see hard wood timber like you use to see it. Even though there still is some farm land left in parts of Alabama and Mississippi. The black-belt area of Alabama is being turned into forest’s as it use to be nothing but farm land and hard wood bottoms.

West Alabama still hold some very great farm land but most of this land is owned by a single family or a company that no longer holds interest in farming for wildlife but farming for tree’s. There is nothing wrong with this if it’s done the rite way. Most of us dose not even know what the rite way is but we still believe we do in our own terms.

There are timber companies that work hard to produce great timber value and still produce great things in the forest for wildlife. Managing your timber and land the correct way will provide great rewards for wildlife today. Rayonier Timber company is a very good company that still helps hunter’s by allowing them to lease lands and manage wildlife in a firmly fashion. There are timber companies that work with companies like Biologic to produce and manage deer and turkey on their lands to make the hunting opportunity better for today’s hunter’s. Let’s take a look at a video on Timber management and see how you can market your timber.

Hogs in Alabama have grown to be a problem in most cases. They destroy crops and eat almost anything they can get their snouts in. How much of a problem are they? How do we get rid of them? Yes they are fun to shoot but can be dangerous if approached the wrong way. So take a chance at a hog in the wild in Alabama.

Wild hogs have known to become a problem in Alabama. They are fun to hunt but be careful because if you think you have killed one just when you walk up on a downed hog they jump and attack if they are not down completely. A hog or feral hog as we see most often will grow to be very large animals. They have a shield as to say on their shoulders that act as a steal plate of Armour. This is to protect them.

A hog can be a good thing or a bad thing. They will destroy any crops that can be found but also will eat snakes as a meal. They use their snouts more ways than we think. A hog can smell very well and sense things you may not think. Alabama’s wild hog population has grown tremendously over the past few years.

The Upper Delta (WMA) and Lowndes (WMA) hold quit a few wild hogs on their lands. There are hogs taken every year that weigh in at 150 lbs and larger. Lowndes (WMA) holds most of it’s hogs on the south road hunting area. I have hunted here for hogs, deer, and turkey in this area many times before. I can’t say that I have hunted the Upper Delta before but have talked to many hunters who have taken many hogs off this tract of land.

Hogs also carry diseases that can make you sick. Take extra care when cleaning these animals. As a hunter, you can protect yourself and your family from diseases commonly found in wild hogs. Use safe field dressing techniques when handling a hog. Wear latex gloves and wash your hands as much as possible when done. Also make sure to follow food safety tips when preparing the meat. Wash and clean the meat thoroughly and soak the meat in salt water to take out the wild taste and draw out any unwanted blood. If you get sick with a flu-like illness, tell your doctor that you hunt wild hogs.

To contact your state wildlife agency for information about wild hogs, visit: State Fish and Wildlife Agencies and for more information about wild hog damage management, visit: USDA Wildlife Services or call toll free at 1-866-4-USDA-WS.

Stay Healthy on Your Hunt!
And Good Luck!

When you want to catch big cat's in a river or lake make sure you have the right equipment in your tackle. When you search for big catfish always think safety first and then fish because without safety there wouldn't be any fishing. let's take a look at the Average Fisherman in a small clip and see the true way to catch big cat's.

When we think big fish what comes to mind? Maybe shark, bass, or even catfish at that. There are so many breeds of fish in the public waters that we just don’t want to settle on just one kind if we can help it. Most of our fresh water fish are bass, bream, and catfish that we choose to chase most often than none.

Saltwater fish we take after are mackerel, flounder, sharks, and red snapper. But fishing for saltwater is not the same as freshwater fishing. Freshwater fishing can take as much skill and sometimes more than that of its natural saltwater neighbor. We all dream of getting the big one and we all have heard the stories of the big one that got away.

Fishing tales can be in all shapes and sizes if you sit and keep your eye on the one telling the tale. There are some very large catfish in public waters and the only way to catch them is to get out of the house and off the couch long enough to stay on the waters of your choice.

Catfish are like what I would call a Texas Chicken, known as a buzzard. A large black bird that will eat anything that may not eat him. A catfish will bite most any kind of baits such as chicken liver, stink baits, and even bacon if you lay it out there for them to get hold on it. When you hang into one of these large fish you might think you have caught a whale.

Let’s take a look at the Average Fisherman and see him give us the tips on how to catch and what to use to catch big cats in our native waters.

These are just a few things to remember when making special trip to the south for a spring turkey hunt. You can enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery rite here in Alabama during the spring. The snakes and bugs can be somewhat of a little hassle for someone not use to it. But hanging in there and taking the cool spring mornings has great rewards for a mature Alabama long beard.

Spring time turkey season is some of the best there is. Alabama is home to some of the best turkey hunting locations in the U.S.. For years there were only few turkey hunters around and now the hunting of Alabama turkey have doubled and even tripled. Alabama has been known to have some of the most difficult turkey hunting of anywhere. The swampy bottoms of the rivers will make you think twice sometimes before entering.

Some of the best hunting lodges in the south are located with some of the very best turkey hunting around. Westerveltlodge ha been known to grow some big deer in their time but the turkey hunting here is among some of the best in the south. Westerveltlodge is located in Aliceville, AL. Another great place with true southern hospitality is Southern Sportsmans lodge located in Lowndesboro, AL. Just minuets away from the Alabama River and the Robert F. Henery lock and damn is also very great turkey hunting. Lets take a look at Westervelt on the video and see what Alabama turkey hunting is all about.

Take a kid fishing. You may hear it lot. But do we actually do it when we have the time to do it. You never know what to expect when you take a kid fishing so get off your high horse and take a kid fishing. Let's get on the water with Darian Brown and his kids as they fish for crappie.

I can still remember my first fishing trip with my dad. Oh boy was it fun to be around water and be fishing. Kids today would much rather sit inside playing a xbox or a playstation. So get them up and way from the TV and place a fishing pole in their hands. You want be making a mistake by doing it.

You may even make yourself a new fishing buddy. What are you afraid of ? I think you may be afraid that they may out fish you. You will never know until you take that first trip with them to a pond or a river.

Start off with something easy for them to really get them into it. Crappie fishing is a way to do it and trust me they will have the time of their life doing it. This is a way to keep your kids enjoying the outdoors and off the streets. Let’s take a trip with Darian Brown from 5 Degrees of Fishing ” The Hunt for Trophy Fish” as he takes his kids out for a day of fishing for crappie. Remember that when you take a kid fishing it’s your way of giving back to a new generation. Our kids are our future.

Let’s take a look at the video now. “Crappie 101″
